Anyone should be able to come to this country, as long as they do it legally. But if they come illegally, problems will arise. Unemployment rates would increase as more and more people need jobs. There would be a rise on the number of homeless people in the country too. New businesses and houses would be built, and the forests would become smaller and smaller. It would be one never ending web of problems…

Many people come to america to support their family, because of extreme poverty. Who are we as americans to be hypocritical, when 50 years ago we would welcome them in open arms?
Some people can’t get a passport, and just want their family to live. The exchange rate is much better, say if you are mexican, but shouldn’t we share the wealth, and if you don’t want them coming in, than why not help em out?

I’d rather not have a lot of illegal immigrants living in this country. As I said before though, they have every right to reside here if they come legally. Lots of people that move here from another country are a large part of our nation. If they all left, the country would be very crippled.

Do you think that if they are dying and leaving loved ones behind, it’d be easy to get legality? I’m not saying we should not have border patrol, but if it’s ok that immigrants coming in legally, then we need a new plan on how to get them there, while still being smart.

In think that illegal immagration should be legal. When we came over on the Mayflower nobody stoped us and deported us. Most of the people that are illegal immagrants came over so they could feed their families. The United states was the only way they could get a job.

If we want to stop illegal immigration then we need to do 1 of 2 things. The United States could:
1. Make Mexico and other countries have a stronger economy and more jobs so people don’t have to emmigrate to the United States in order to find work and feed their families. (Note, if this was done, the United States would most likely see a rise in price of things like orange juice, because the companies would be forced to pay workers legal, decent wages.)
2. Or, we could make legal immgration plausilbe so people don’t have to come illegally. This would be good because we could make sure that people who come to the US are treated fairly, and paid at least minimum wage.
3. We could attempt to build a wall that would cost billions of dollars, offend our neighboring countries, and do nothing to fix the actual problem.

Good point Jordan. I disagree, illegal immagrants are fine (as long as they don’t get caught) They do hte jobs that most people won’tdo and for that they should be allowed in the country. If they start doing crimes, that is a different thing. They do a crime they do the time- or they get kicked out of hte country.

Sure they don’t pay taxes, but, at the same time, even though most are below the poverty line, they don’t ge tot take advantage of welfare. The big word people seem to be missing here is the word illegal. There are already laws in place which make “illegal” immagrants …well illegal.
If the immagrants come in and do (by law) what they are supposed to do (paper trail process etc.) and they become citizens then they are no longer illegal.
It takes to long, I dont have the time, etc. Well guess what? If you want something bad enough (US citizenship) its worth waiting for.
HOWEVER.. Most times what you have is the “illegals” that come over here, work (dont get me wrong they do work - more on this later) and send money back “home”. Now you may think this does nothing to the economy but it does.
Take a town of 100 “working” people. Lets say 25% of them are illegal. Now while they do need food and shelter most times it is barely enough to get by as the rest of the money is being sent back home.
Now the other 75 people are in essence only relying on each other. Meaning the money THEY make goes back into the “town”. Now if Floyd at the barber shop is loosing out (those 25 people dont get their haircut that often.. work with me here) he will need to raise his prices to make up for what he is loosing. Or close shop. Anyway I think you get what I mean with that if not ask I will try to explain it better.
Work… yes they do do jobs that “we wont do”… and thats another problem. Why wont we do those jobs? I can think of 2 reasons. Low pay and they are percieved as “crap” jobs. Well guess what kids (this is not a jab at kids..im old most of you are probably “kids” to me dont get your shorts in a ruffle), you got to start somewhere. As for the pay well of course any “shrewd” business man will take a $5 an hour worker over a $7 an hour worker. Especially if he knows the $5 an hour will bust his butt for low wages and still do a good if not better job. Answer “we” are lazy.
You dont want me to get started on “medical” and Govt “Handouts”…

I just watched a DVD called “Borderline Wars,” which is about the illigel immigration debate. I reccomend this film to any one, because it gives both sides (More or less, I do believe it is more for having illegal immigration laws…
and is interesting to watch. Something from the movie I think most of you do not realize; Mexicans’ come here, not because they want to be a US citizen, but because they want food. They don’t have the recources they need there, which is why they are forced to try and come here, even if ithey have to risk death.
In the film, a woman was talking about how a Mexican man killed her husband. I don’t see why this was part of it. Just because that one man killed him, it doesn’t mean that every one from Mexico is a criminal.

I agree with Fazal. If people didnt immigrate, no matter if its legal or not, many of the jobs that those people take wouldnt exist. People from Mexico and other similar countries take jobs that don’t pay much because anything they can get is good enough as long as their families can survive. Illegal immigrants are already in a bad situation because in most cases they had to leave everything they had just to find a better life. The US is supposed to be a welcoming country where people can find refuge and start a new life. We should do everything in our power to actually make the US “a welcoming country where people can find refuge and start a new life” because right now it’s not.

The people from Mexico who come here are NOT stealing from us. They’re the people who take the jobs that no one wants. Without them and people from other countries who have no choice but to take jobs like making tooth brush handles or something, then our economy would collapse even faster. Without those people who take jobs that American’s don’t want, little things would be missing and it would eventually evolve into a bigger problem.
So if you find some American’s who will willingly take the jobs that Mexican’s and other foreigners have, then tell me about it, because I don’t think you’ll be able to.

So they are here doing something ILLEGAL becasue they want “food”. They are breaking a LAW. Just like STEALING is against the law.
Also its not that “we” wont take the jobs. Its the employers that want to pay the lower wages.
The only way to fix the immigration “problem” in this country is to go after the money. We need to actually enforce the employment laws and make it less profitable to employ illegals than citizens or legal immigrants. The fact is the economy of this country feeds off the abuse of desperate people. By doing away with the immigrants, you’ll find that your cost of living will go up (and wages too, FYI). Produce is the price we pay because the people picking it are getting paid $6/day under the table. Looking over your border fence, we find more than 50% of Mexicans look forward to making less than $2/day staying in Mexico. Ask me again why they risk deserts, legitimate border patrol and vigilantes to come here to work miserable, difficult and dangerous jobs. If these jobs don’t exist for them, they don’t come.
Homework: How many business were fined for how much money under the current and previous adminstrations for employing illegal immigrants?

It is not good if an immigrant who commits a crime and the police try to catch the person but have no record of that person. It can be a big problem knowing that there is a convict running around. It is NOT illegal immagration. Immagration is migrating to a country legally, which means you follow all proceedures, laws in order to gain entry to that country. What we have are INVADERS, people who could care less about our laws. Race is not the issue, tearing our country apart by bending over backwards for these people is the real issue. When your children have NO social security, NO health care, NO future because all the help they were entitled to is gone because we decided to 100 million people into this country and turn in into a social disaster! That is the real issue. And what is wrong with having these Invaders learn how to asimmulate…meaning learn some ENGLISH!!!! Name one other country that will print thier Federal and State documents in another language other than the official language of the country. There is only 1…The United States of America will. We now have no border and our language is about to be gone as well. When is illegal not illegal? Come on! Do you think the countries that these imegrants are comming from want them back? Do you think the countries that they are comming from would welcome US citizens with open arms and give us free medical and welfare programs and educate our children for free? This is Bull Shit! OK, so i fully agree that immigrants should be let in, but only if they do it LEGALLY!!!!!! Security needs to be tightened around the borders, if the mexicans can get in, so can everyone else, like terrorists. i know for a fact that it is not easy for them to become legal and that the reason the come hear is to make money to send to thier families and and what about the families they have hear are we supposed to stop and ask the personhey are you legal and when they say no are we supposed to look at them in discust and i was raised to treat everybody legal and if we send them back there will be more mothers and children on welfare these days we cant afford to live on a single parents income so tell me why it is good to send them back kids will be fatherless leave them alone we took over this countrie anyways we are not legal either
